- Scribe charges per seat, and the whole team must be on the same tier.
- Desktop capture needs a paid plan. The free plan only captures web apps.
- Translation, SSO and auto-redaction of personal data are Enterprise features.
- For browser-only teams, Scribe is good value. Costs rise when you need Enterprise features or more seats.

What each Scribe plan unlocks
Basic (free). Capture in the browser, quick edits, and sharing by link or embed. It works with any web app. There is no desktop capture.
Pro Personal. Capture in web, desktop and mobile apps. Company branding, screenshot editing and redaction, and export to PDF, HTML and Markdown. Version history keeps one week.
Pro Team. Everything in Pro Personal, plus comments. Version history still keeps one week.
Enterprise. Auto-redaction of personal and health data, SSO, SCIM, IP whitelisting, roles for creators, viewers and admins, guide translation, and unlimited version history.
Scribe also launched video import in July 2026. You upload a recording of up to 30 minutes and 500 MB, and Scribe turns it into a guide. Scribe says it works best for screen recordings such as software walkthroughs. Which plans include it is not listed on the pricing page.
What a team really pays
Per-seat pricing is easy to budget for small teams. Here is the math on Pro Team, billed yearly:
| Team size | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| 5 seats | $65 | $780 |
| 10 seats | $130 | $1,560 |
| 25 seats | $325 | $3,900 |
Two things change the number:
- Same tier for everyone. Scribe’s FAQ says teams have to be on the same tier. One person who needs a Pro Personal feature does not get it alone.
- Enterprise-only features. If you need guides in Spanish for your crew, or SSO for IT, you move to a custom quote.
Is Scribe worth it?
Yes, if your processes live in a browser. The extension writes a screenshot guide while you click. Nothing else is faster for software steps, and the free plan lets you test it properly.
It fits less well when:
- Part of the work happens away from a screen. A machine setup, a changeover or a field visit cannot be captured as clicks.
- Your crew reads in several languages. Translation sits on Enterprise.
- You need to train people on the guides. Scribe has no assignments, quizzes or sign-off. It points teams to an LMS.
Scribe pricing vs SOPX pricing
SOPX is built for teams whose processes run on the floor and on screen. You film a task on a phone, or record your screen with the built-in recorder, and AI returns an SOP with a trimmed clip on every step. Then you assign it as training with sign-off.
| Scribe | SOPX | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Per seat, same tier for the whole team | Flat monthly plan with creators included |
| People who only read | Pricing for viewers not listed | Included on every plan |
| Entry paid plan | $13 per seat / month, 5-seat minimum | Standard at $199 / month billed yearly |
| Free option | Free plan for web apps | 14-day free trial, no credit card |
| Floor work on video | Not built for it | Yes, phone video to SOP with a clip per step |
| Translation | Enterprise | 50+ languages on every plan |
| Training and sign-off | Not available | Training paths with sign-off on every plan |
| Click-capture extension | Yes, its core strength | No, SOPX uses a built-in screen recorder instead |
For a software team with no floor work, Scribe will usually cost less. For a plant or a field team, compare it with SOPX pricing, where viewers are included and the price stays the same as more people read the SOPs.

Frequently asked questions
Is Scribe free?
Yes, the Basic plan is free. It captures workflows in a web browser and lets you share guides by link or embed. Desktop capture, branding, exports and redaction need a paid plan.
How much does Scribe cost per user?
Pro Personal is $25 per seat per month billed yearly ($35 monthly). Pro Team is $13 per seat per month billed yearly ($17 monthly) with a 5-seat minimum. Enterprise is a custom quote.
Does Scribe charge for viewers?
Scribe’s pricing page does not list a separate viewer price as of November 2026. Viewer, creator and admin roles are listed as an Enterprise feature. Ask Scribe for a quote if many people only read guides.
What is a cheaper alternative to Scribe for operations teams?
For browser-only work, Scribe’s free plan is hard to beat. For teams that also document physical work and train people on it, SOPX uses a flat monthly price with viewers included, so the cost does not grow with every reader.
